Chris Woods

Chris Woods is an educator and musician. He was born and raised in Lodi, CA in a musical home. Both of his parents were musicians and his mother often worked extra jobs so her children could have music lessons. They loved popular music and instilled that love in their children. Chris and his siblings grew up singing and playing guitar, ukulele and piano. He graduated from BYU with a BA in music with an emphasis in Media Music. He also has a Master of Music in Songwriting from Bath Spa University. Chris taught private guitar lessons at a small music conservatory for 2.5 years before becoming a full-time teacher. During that time, he also had a dedicated weekend gig playing at a restaurant every Friday and Saturday night as a roaming entertainer. That gig was important to him because it put him in a position to learn a lot of songs and he credits it for making him a better musician.
Chris has been teaching full-time since 2004. He began his career teaching guitar and choir at a small, private boarding school for troubled teens. It was there that he became a Rock Band teacher. He then taught at an inner-city school in the Bronx for 3 years and has been teaching at Rich High School for the past 8 years.
